Clean Water Act Celebration

The Canton Historical Society is joining in the celebration of the Clean Water Act enacted 50 years ago and championed by Maine’s own Senator Ed Muskie.

The General Public is invited to join the celebration. There is no admission to join the activities.

Working with Androscoggin River Watershed Council (ARWC) and the Lake Anasgunticook Assocation (LAA), the Historical Society will highlight the impact the river and the lake has on Canton’s history with a special display in our museum.

ARWC, is coordinating with many of their partners up and down the river. They are planning a bunch of paddling, educational activities, and museum displays to mark this milestone. And not just on the mainstem of the river, but also in the larger watershed, which, of course, includes Lake Anasagunticook.
