CANTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Grand Opening - July 7, 2018
On Saturday, July 7 the Canton Historical Society held its much anticipated Grand Opening. Festivities included special guest speaker Senator Lisa Keim and a Ribbon Cutting ceremony.
The community was then invited to explore the Museum, visit the Country Store, and tour the building, including Hayford Hall.
There were many reunions of friends, neighbors, and relatives during the gathering.
Hayford Hall is a beautiful space for community events and activities, and the hall will be available as a rental venue for private parties, business meetings, and receptions. The income stream will help us maintain the building and care for our historic collections.
The old Canton Post Office mailbox exhibit was a major attraction, and some attendees recognized their family's original mailboxes! Prizes were awarded for those who could work the combinations.
Bernard Adams and Granddaughter Prudy with the family's window dedication booklet.
Families who donated windows viewed their brass memorial window plaques and family dedication booklets.
An arrangement donated for the occasion by Specialty Cut Flowers. Thank you, Loretta Blancato!
Several museum exhibits highlight memories of the Universalist Church.
The Country Store at Canton Historical Society features items from our talented local artists and artisans, as well as New England made gift items.
Museum exhibits include a violin made by Canton's Frank Richardson.
Punch and homemade strawberry shortcake. Thank you bakers and volunteers!
Old friends and new ones.
